Miami’s Brillhart House, a piece of celebrated contemporary architecture that earned a place on the BBC’s “The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes” series, is selling for the first time, asking nearly $2 million. Even Piers and Caroline, who have seen and experienced already so much in their careers, get totally mesmerized each and every time, with the beauty of the houses they visit. The series, in its purest sense, is the perfect definition of aesthetics, and the show is meant for each and everyone without exception. Piers and Caroline arrive at an island in Norway by a speed boat and decide to stay for two days instead of one.
To meet the brief, Nakazono drew on the structure of an ant colony and designed a property made up from a series of glass cells that connected to each other. Owner Mr Haragami challenged architect Tetsuya Nakazono to maximise the natural beauty by designing a property that offers views of the water from every room. The house is V-shaped – with one wing containing the kitchen, dining room, living room and master bedroom. A three-story wood and steel residence, a family cottage, a summer house built around water that sits on a small, rocky islet of its own, and comprises a combination of steel and timber in its construction. The core of the house spans 1,500 square feet laid out in a “dogtrot” style, with the living areas on one half and the bedrooms on the other, with a central breezeway down the middle.
