If you own an Apple iPad or even an iPhone, try using these mobile graphic design tools the next time you’re out and about. Remember inspiration can strike at any moment, so don’t shy away from letting your creativity run wild during your everyday experiences — you now have the best apps out there to document your best ideas. Are you a designer that loves taking photos to fuel your inspiration? If so, Adobe Capture might just become your new favorite design tool and photo editing software. Using the app, harness the power of your smartphone or iPad’s high definition camera to create custom brushes, textures, color schemes, and even scalable vectors from the photos you take.

Table of contents

You can use Apple Pencil to scribble live ink lines that become dynamic links between documents. Gestures enable you to quickly collapse lengthy documents to read highlights, search results, or non-contiguous pages. For students, researchers, and anyone who wants to go beyond paper, LiquidText is a must-have. On iPad, Yoink proves especially useful, working in Split View and Slide Over, and making it a cinch to gather images, text, URLs and documents. You can import items as well, and even get at things you’ve stashed on other devices by way of iCloud sync. Yoink is what’s known as a ‘shelf’ app – a kind of souped-up clipboard that can be used to collate files and content from disparate sources.

Naturally, using the app won’t stop you from being seen as one of those people who shoots photos with a tablet. But when your camera app is this good, you won’t care – especially if you’ve got a recent iPad Pro, which can do surprisingly fancy macro-like tricks. FE File Explorer Pro plugs a hole in iPad file management – namely, getting at things that aren’t stored on your iPad or on iCloud.

This means you can use the tablet for word processing, number crunching, note taking, presentations and more -- plus you can multitask with ease, since this iPad offers a larger screen. Homestyler is a user-friendly interior design app that allows users to visualize different design ideas in 2D and 3D. This versatile app offers a wide range of features for both amateurs and professionals, enabling the creation and customization of floor plans, furniture arrangements, and decor selections.

Main features

At only $9.99, Procreate offers a plethora of features, including Animation Assist, 3D painting, and various brush types and effects. Overall, the active community of users and the company’s commitment to bringing more features to the app make it a worthwhile investment for digital artists and designers. In choosing the best graphic design app for you, you need to first understand what you need.

WhatsApp Brand New iPhone Feature Just Launched That s Much Easier To Use

It’s important to note that it’s not compatible with a lot of Android tablets so it’s easier to download if you’re using an iPad. For Android tablets, you can use an alternative in the Play store called Photoshop Express Photo Editor but it’s limited to editing photos. It also has a layering system so it’s easier to segregate changes to the artwork in their layers. It also has multiple tools that can be used to retouch, color grade, and color correct photos. Secondly, not only does SketchBook have all these incredible customisation options but it also has layers – allowing users to work on different elements of their artwork separately without disturbing other layers. This makes creating complex pieces much easier than if done on paper or another drawing platform where erasure often leads to smudging or even tearing/blotting out part(s) of your creation.

To do all of these things, graphic designers use apps or programs to make their designs. One of the standout features of Adobe Fresco is its Live Brushes technology – which uses artificial intelligence to mimic the behavior of real-world brushes. This means you can paint with oils or watercolors in an incredibly natural way – including blending colors together just like you would on a canvas.

This allows for real-time collaboration between apps, which means you can work on a project in Illustrator and easily transfer it to other Adobe Creative Cloud apps like Photoshop or XD. Its rich set of features allows you to create stunning graphics with ease. The friendly nature of the app makes it accessible to anyone, and there’s no limit on export – projects can be shared as GIFs or movies, or uploaded to the Folioscope community, should you create an account. Folioscope is a case in point, providing the basics for crafting your own animations. The idea behind Canva is to do most of the heavy lifting when it comes to creating great-looking layouts based on your photos.

Whether you’re working on a large-scale poster design or creating intricate illustrations, this app can handle it all. It also comes with a robust set of tools such as advanced pen and brush options, shape manipulation tools, customizable grids and guides, and live gradients. In conclusion, whether you’re a professional artist looking for new ways to uplift your workflow or someone who loves doodling but don’t want cumbersome software – give Procreate a try!

Dashkit comes across like a spiritual successor to the dearly departed classic Status Board. Like that app, Dashkit is all about personalized modules that feature the data that’s important to you, be that time, weather, web feeds, reminders, or charts from spreadsheets. Full support for video combined with some bonkers filters (PETSCII! Teletext!) adds scope for YouTube weirdness.

But while there are many great apps, finding the best iPad apps can be easier said than done, as there are lots of lesser ones to sift through. A 2022 Apple Design Awards finalist, Tint is a beautiful-looking colour-mixing puzzle to play with Apple Pencil. You need to mix watercolours to match the colours in origami shapes while the weather changes and bird tweet. Available through Apple Arcade, this is a game with no rush and no points to be won, making for a soothing experience. The developers are continuing to add more levels, so it should offer hours of relaxation. You can move, pull, flatten, bend, twist, translate, rotate your model or even import an image to use as a brush.

You can even use grids to add another level of precision, and insert photos from your personal or Adobe stock library for reference. Procreate has revolutionized the world of graphic design because of how good it is. You can see lots of artists, both casual and professional, using procreate for their work.

The 25 Best Chinese Restaurants in Los Angeles Eater LA

peking house

There are three locations, and the newest in San Gabriel offers the most extensive menu of the three. Though it’s known for its Cantonese barbecue, Auntie Kitchen even offers the Hainan chicken rice. That dish comes with complimentary soup, and portions are generous while prices remain reasonable.

Southern Mini Town Restaurant

The gelatinous skin and fat that comes off the bones is very easy to enjoy. It uses quality seasonal ingredients, many of which are seafood, and offers plenty of vegetarian dishes. The menu is large and filled with specialties that rotate regularly.

The residency will run from July 19 to September 17 at 1644 Sawtelle Boulevard, Wednesday to Sunday from 12 p.m. Walk-ins are accepted, plus there’s delivery on UberEats and pre-order on Tock. Chef Tony Dim Sum by Tony He, the culinary talent behind the acclaimed Sea Harbour restaurant in Rosemead (as well as some iconic places in Vancouver), offers a contemporary dim sum experience. Chef Tony blends traditional Cantonese favorites with modern interpretations. Many dishes feature ingredients like freshly shaved black truffles and gold leaf accents.

All you need is a few friends or family members and about an hour of advance notice given to the restaurant. It is a roast duck that is stuffed with rice, and it is served in certain Chinese restaurants. The dish has also become popular in many other places, such as California, Spain and other places. Fresh chunks of lobster meat are sliced and placed on top of a fruit bed. Expect fine dining plus a show, as diners are treated to something like a traditional Beijing opera performance. Hot pots feature premium ingredients like imported fresh seafood and wagyu beef.

If you want traditional peking duck in the SGV, it doesn’t get more classic than Ji Rong. The $85 spread at this casual sit-down spot in Rosemead includes sides of shredded cucumber and green onions, sweet bean sauce, and a basket of flaky pancakes. The main event is a show-stopping mini-mountain of meat surrounded by glistening strips of crisp skin. Other popular dishes include Shanghainese eel, loofa, drunken chicken, Shanghainese stir-fried rice cake with crab, and green onion scallion noodles. Red 99 also makes one of the best renditions of jiuniang yuan zi, a subtly sweet and boozy dessert soup with fermented glutinous rice, dried osmanthus flower, and chewy glutinous black sesame rice balls.

Colette offers a variety of rare and unadvertised dishes, including stir-fried lobster sticky rice, lamb stew, and winter melon soup. Beloved dishes like beef chow fun, cola-glazed chicken wings, and salmon carpaccio are also on the menu. Nature Pagoda is a tiny mom-and-pop that has been around since the ’90s.

Bistro Na’s is a Chinese restaurant that serves Peking duck all year round. The restaurant has been around for decades but it remains popular with locals and tourists alike. This popular duck restaurant in Los Angeles is a hit for many reasons.

Auntie Kitchen

Embassy Kitchen’s dinner menu is excellent, but its Special menu shines above the rest. Some of the dishes are better ordered at least one day in advance, like crispy chicken that has been boned and stuffed with shrimp paste. Tai Ping Sa Choi Kee is a Guangzhou-based chain specializing in beef brisket noodle soup as well as other Cantonese fare.

25 Essential Chinese Restaurants in Los Angeles

The broth is made with boiled pork, ox bones, and various seasonings, with the most common ingredients being pork and pig offal. The noodles are typically topped with marinated meat slices, chopped scallions, fried soybean, pepper, and sesame oil. Red 99 Grill Bistro specializes in Shanghainese cuisine but also has a handful of Sichuan- and Hunan-style dishes on the menu.

Its slow-roasted skin is so crispy and golden-brown, you’d think it spent an afternoon in a lifeguard chair. And each precisely carved slice shatters into pleasantly crispy pieces with every bite. You’ll also get a classic platter of pillowy bao buns, scallion matchsticks, and hoisin sauce to go along with it.

You'll need to order Bistro Na’s peking duck two days in advance, but trust us, it's worth the hassle. This restaurant in Temple City specializes in upscale Chinese Imperial cuisine, which is to say, you won't find your typical duck experience. This $98 Peking duck is moist with skin that’s shiny like caramels at See’s Candies. The chef brings your bird to the table (so you can send a picture to your mom) then it disappears and returns carved, with thin handmade pancakes, green onion, and sweet bean sauce.

In addition to the standard meat selections like beef, chicken, and lamb, the menu encompasses various offal options, beef with raw egg, rose petal meatballs, and even spicy crawfish. Eating an entire peking duck at the mall sounds equal parts outrageous and incredible (because it is). Located inside the Westfield Century Mall, this Beijing-based restaurant serves a whole duck for $89, which comes neatly sliced on a cute duck-shaped platter.

Tasty Duck is one of those rare places that serves excellent food all year round. Dun Huang pulls eight different shapes of noodles, from extra-thin angel hair to extra-wide belts. Don’t forget to order a deep-fried flatbread marinated in cumin, Sichuan peppercorn, and dry chile oil. Other popular dishes include the cold eggplant salad, lamb tenderloin skewer, and sweet pork pita.

Colette is helmed by former Embassy Kitchen chef Peter Lai, who showcases his innovative and complex Cantonese-inspired cuisine. One of his most sought-after off-menu items is the Crispy Flower Chicken, a traditional Cantonese dish that takes at least six hours to prepare and features a deboned, air-dried chicken pressed with shrimp paste. This establishment is about two decades old, and serves Peking Duck the traditional way. It is very easy to remove the bones from a whole duck and make your own wraps. Do your pre ordering one hour in advance if you are planning to order a huge piece of duck.

The entire menu is based on traditional Chinese medicinal principles meant to balance the body for optimal health. The quaint restaurant serves traditional herbal teas and medicinal soups, but the star is clay pot rice (bao zai fan), a Hong Kong specialty. The rice at the bottom of the clay pot is crispy, while the interior rice is moist and steamed with ingredients like mushrooms, bamboo shoots, Chinese sausage, pork ribs, and salted fish with ground pork and tofu. After running a successful restaurant in China and working at Panda Restaurant Group in Los Angeles, Tony Xu opened Alhambra’s Chengdu Taste in 2013.

The signature dish is the red braised pork belly prepared with soy sauce, rice wine, sugar, and other spices; the gelatinous skin and fat melt easily in your mouth. This restaurant in Los Angeles serves Peking duck on a daily basis. The menu offers many standard Chinese dishes like steamed dumplings and noodles but they also offer an exceptional selection of duck specialties such as stuffed chicken wings. Tam’s Noodle House opened during the pandemic selling only frozen Hong Kong-style wontons and dumplings.

Mr. Chopsticks has been a mainstay in the area for over three decades and is one of a handful of Cantonese restaurants that still provide free soup at the start of the meal.

The best shuttle service in south Florida

Best of all, the actual time it will take you to get back and forth is roughly the same. And if there is a lot of traffic between the airport and cruise port? Miami cruise port is just 8 miles east of Miami International (MIA) Airport.

Party Bus

With various transportation options available, getting to the cruise port has never been easier. Ride-sharing options such as Uber and Lyft have opened up a whole new world of affordable transport for travelers. The beauty of these options is that you can either pre-book them ahead of time before you’ve even arrived or book them once you are ready to be picked up from the Miami airport.

It is important to note that the availability and rates of transportation options may vary, so it’s advisable to check in advance and plan accordingly. Additionally, it’s always helpful to factor in traffic conditions and allow for extra time to ensure you arrive at the cruise ship terminal on time. If you prefer a more convenient and hassle-free option, consider using shuttle services.

Private Car/Limo Transport

The journey takes at least 12 minutes and costs vary from $100 for a luxury sedan to around $125 for a van and $150 for a private limousine. If you are cruising as a family or group, it can be much more economical to book your own shared transport, such as a private taxi, Uber, or van. At the end of your cruise, the advantage of using the cruise shuttle is that the cruise line will take care of everything. We’ve got you covered with all your parking options, including costs and discounts. But if you’re splitting the cost among four or more passengers, it can be surprisingly affordable.

The same shuttle runs $62 round-trip per person from the Fort Lauderdale airport. If you’re flying in for your cruise, or simply don’t want to worry with the hassle and expense of parking, then there are plenty of alternate ways to get to the cruise terminal. We recommend using Uber or Lyft as they are the cheapest and most convenient options. All you have to do is simply search around for hotels in the Miami area and ask them if they have a complementary, or for a nominal fee, shuttle service you can use.

Miami-Dade Transit operates buses from the airport to downtown Miami, where you can then transfer to the Metromover or Metrorail to reach the cruise terminal. The bus ride takes approximately 30 minutes, and the train or Metromover ride adds an additional minutes. Clarion Inn & Suites Miami AirportAnother affordable option that’s right near your flight, this hotel offers free wi-fi, breakfast, and airport shuttle to its guests. About minutes from the cruise port, you can take a shuttle from the hotel for just $12 per person. Rates will vary based on when you stay, and can be under $100 on some nights.

Another benefit of using a shuttle bus is the opportunity to meet fellow cruise passengers, creating a shared sense of excitement and camaraderie before embarking on your cruise adventure. To use Uber or Lyft, simply download the respective app on your smartphone and set up an account if you don’t already have one. Once at the airport, follow the signs or ask for guidance to the designated rideshare pickup location.

In fact,  almost 5 million travelers pass through the Miami cruise port every year on over 55 different cruise ships, deeming Miami the “Cruise Capital of the World”. Taxis charge a flat fee of $27 to take passengers from the Miami Airport to the Port of Miami. If you’re in a hurry, this is the fastest way to get from the Miami Airport to the Port of Miami for your cruise. Step 3Once on the train, you’ll ride it north until you reach the Miami airport. Carnival VIFP Club: How It Works, Benefits, and More

carnival cruise tiers

Carnival Panorama also houses Carnival's first cooking classroom. Dubbed Carnival Kitchen, it's located near the ship's main restaurants and is a seriously tricked-out venue complete with nine state-of-the-art, marbled granite cooking stations for two and a dedicated dining area. Every Carnival ship has a casino, usually smack in the middle of the main entertainment deck. In general, the production shows aren't nearly as sophisticated — or as long — as what you'll find on Royal Caribbean or Norwegian ships.

Carnival Cruise Line’s VIFP Club loyalty program: Everything you need to know

For example, after you complete your first sailing, you’ll be able to take advantage of members-only promotions that offer better deals on select cruises. By doing so, you’ll ensure you receive the appropriate card color, reflecting your membership level and unlocking all the fabulous privileges that come with it. As you move up through the different card colors, you’ll unlock even more benefits. The higher your tier, the more you’ll gain access to exceptional services and opportunities. Your Sail & Sign card will now be diamond colored, and you’ll enjoy the best benefits and privileges available to VIFP Club members.

Carnival’s VIFP Loyalty Club Changes (

For example, those who book a suite accommodation or spend more on board could get more VIFP points for a given sailing. Whether or not one believes $$$ equals loyalty is likely irrelevant to Carnival as they look to bring in as much income as they can to pay down debt taken on during the pandemic. Guests will receive a color-coded Sail & Sign® card during each sailing which will identify their levels in the VIFP Club.

Do VIFP Club Points Expire or Does the Status Level Drop?

Like other big-ship operators, Carnival packs a lot of dining options onto its vessels — some included in the price, some at an extra charge. In recent years, Carnival also has deployed two of its vessels to Australia to operate voyages from Sydney and Brisbane. In a departure from Carnival's American-focused business model, the Australia sailings are aimed mostly at the local Australian market, though they are open to American travelers.

Carnival Cruise Lines VIP Club Loyalty Program

In addition to entertainment spaces, the interiors of Carnival ships are loaded with other venues where passengers can kick back and let loose day and night, including a wide range of bars, lounges and nightspots. When it comes to raucous, though, nothing on Carnival ships quite compares to the frequent karaoke nights on board. Sometimes held in a secondary lounge or a shipboard pub, karaoke on Carnival draws a big crowd. Passengers come prepared with rehearsed songs and sometimes even their own guitars. Guy's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse, notably, has its very own in-house brewery you can see behind glass walls — something still relatively rare on cruise ships.

carnival cruise tiers

In addition, every ship has at least one — and usually several — extra-charge eateries. The two venues have flat fees of $49 and $24 per person, respectively. Every vessel has two main dining rooms and a casual buffet eatery where meals are included in the fare.

Is There A Credit Card Tied To My Cruise Line’s Loyalty Program

As is typical with cruise line loyalty programs, lower tiers don't bring all that much in terms of truly valuable benefits. More and more, we’ve seen Carnival limit the benefits to Platinum and Diamond cruisers as the cruise operator struggles to deliver based on the number of loyal cruisers on board. It’s really apparent with new ship launches, Journeys Cruises, and unique sailings, however, even on standard sailings, the Platinum/Diamond line for guest services sometimes is just as long as the standard line. Unlike rival Royal Caribbean, Carnival's VIFP Club loyalty program doesn't offer its members a free cruise after reaching the top tier. There are no 20% discounts on some sailings, as Windstar Cruises offers to its loyalty program members. Unlike other cruise line loyalty programs, Carnival Cruise Line doesn’t provide a free cruise to the highest tier members.

New law forces Carnival Cruise Line to change advertised price for cruises

As one moves up the five-tier ladder, perks include such things as discounts in the onboard shops , onboard receptions and complimentary cooking studio classes at the Five-Star level. Perks extend to the home, with those whove reached the highest two levels eligible for a free subscription to either Food & Wine or Travel & Leisure magazines. There are other options Carnival Cruise Line might consider to help determine guest loyalty status. It could be possible, for example, to offer guests additional loyalty points for more frequent cruises, such as bonus points for cruising multiple times in one year. To add an onboard spending component to guest loyalty status would permit guests to advance through Carnival’s VIFP tiers more quickly based on certain purchases.

Entertainment, at times, is as lowbrow as the line is low-cost. This is, after all, the brand that for many years held a Hairy Chest Contest around the pool deck on every voyage, to a standing-room-only, hooting and hollering crowd. Indeed, if you're going on a Carnival cruise, the odds are you're driving to the ship, not flying, and you're probably not paying much more than you would for a trip to a local beach town. We’d love to hear what you’d want to see in the new VIFP Club. Each tier has a color represented as the background of your Sail & Sign card. VIFP Club points are exclusive to Carnival Cruise Line and don’t cross over to other brands within the Carnival Corporation family, such as Princess Cruises or Holland America Line.

There's also the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, which brings 2 Ultimate Rewards points on travel and 3 Ultimate Rewards points on dining. One of the nice little surprises of Carnival's loyalty program is that you hit the first tier level, Blue, the moment you walk on board your first cruise with the brand. Unlike many lines, you don't have to complete a cruise to get to the first level. In fact, you can get to the Blue tier even before taking a cruise.

Carnival is also well known for the Punchliner Comedy Clubs on its ships, which draw quality comedians and can get a little raucous late at night with adult-only performances. Carnival also uses its big theaters for lots of interactive shows that involve you, the passenger, getting a little silly. They include Lip Sync Battle Carnival — a shipboard adaptation of the Paramount Network TV series — and Hasbro, the Game Show. Every Carnival ship has one big theater where you'll often find flashy, fast-paced production shows that string together a medley of loosely related tunes.

The top decks of Carnival vessels are covered in family-focused attractions – pools, waterslide areas and bustling fun zones with such draws as ropes courses and miniature golf. The quality of the food (and drink) on Carnival ships always surprises us, given the budget pricing of the brand. Despite being one of the industry's lowest-cost operators, Carnival manages to pull off one of the best steakhouses at sea in Fahrenheit 555, and even the no-extra-charge main restaurants get the basics right. Most of these six ships (all but Carnival Venezia) have an a la carte barbecue-and-beer joint called Guy's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse, too.

Carnival is the undisputed leader among North America-based cruise brands when it comes to affordability, which makes it popular with vacationers on a budget. The overarching idea for Carnival's ship deployments is that a large percentage of the U.S. population can reach one of the line's ships by car, saving the cost of flights. However, with two exceptions, they're not giants by today's standards. Carnival ships are all about fun in a very laid-back, unpretentious, nothing-too-fancy sort of way. #EventsToBeScene: Fall 2023

When you've got one of Abilene's finest remembering the years he participated in Cruise Night, you know it's a memorable family event. Speaking of memorable, we had some very special vehicles this year. First of all, we admittedly picked the wrong date for this year's Spring Cruise. Yes, we heard you, Abilene, and moving forward, we will do better at not scheduling such an event on Easter weekend. Unlike previous years, the cruise will primarily just take place up and down North 1st street. So, to make up for the lost time, we decided to host Cruise Night twice a year from now on; one in the spring and the other in the fall.

The past couple of years have been pretty tough on Cruise Night as the pandemic and other reasons played a role in the cancellation and rescheduling of Abilene's favorite annual event. Cruise Night is back and will be twice the fun as any we've had in the past. So, get ready for not just one, but two, Cruise Nights in 2022 and every year going forward. Spectators are welcome to watch from parking lots along the route. Parking on the railroad right-of-way grass is not advised. First off the car show will take place on Saturday, October 14, from 11 a.m.

Due to COVID-19, there was not live music, a car show, or food vendors downtown. As it is, every chance I have to snap a pic of one of these sweet rides cruising up and down the streets of my hometown, I do. Then I sit there and try to remember which high school friend of mine drove one of these. I hope they bring back some great memories for you too. During my teenage years I had a couple of muscle cars I was always working on and pouring money into. I had a love for the Camaro and the Corvette, and I owned them both.

As you can see, we had an awesome turnout for Cruise Night, even on an Easter weekend. I always love these kinds of events because not only does it bring out some amazing rides, but the atmosphere is like a big old block party with everybody smiling from ear to ear. That said, we still had an amazing turnout for the cruise as hundreds of cars, trucks, motorcycles, and even ATVs graced the streets of Abilene for two hours of cruising. Yes, Cruise Night was "lit" as the kids say these days. Our Spring Cruise Night was one for the books as hundreds of people shined up their classic rides to cruise the streets of Abilene.

The first Cruise Night will take place on Saturday, April 8th and unlike previous years, it will primarily be just a cruise up and down North 1st Street here in Abilene. In 2020 and 2021, the pandemic and other reasons played a role in the cancellation and rescheduling of Abilene's favorite annual event. In 2022, Cruise Night came back to reclaim its top spot as one of Abilene's favorite past times. Track crime, special events and more in your neighborhood with AlertNest & KTXS.

As a matter of fact, my wife attended the event and had me take pictures of her with some vehicles similar to ones she once had the pleasure of driving. It was estimated that between two to four thousand people visited the car show in Clyde and/or the cruise in Abilene. Now, I've attended Cruise Night every year for 40 years and I will say it seemed as if there were more classic and muscle cars out on the street this year.

After the Keepers Car Club Car Show in Clyde, we'll head back to Abilene for the actual cruise up and down North 1st Street. Pre-registration cost is $20; day-of-show registration will be $25. Payment must be made with cash or a check written to Keepers Car Club.

So get those cars, trucks, and motorcycles ready to roll for Saturday, April 8th with Cruise Night. The Abilene Scene events calendar will help you take advantage of all the arts, culture and entertainment Abilene has to offer. Whether you love visiting museums, taking in a play, or finding an adventure for the whole family, there’s no excuse for a boring weekend in Abilene.

ABILENE, Texas — The first Cruise Night of the year is happening in Abilene this Saturday, April 9th. The spring version of Cruise Night is planned this weekend, with vehicles of all types, colors and sounds going east and west on North First Street. The loop goes from Sonic, 1734 North First, to the former Kmart lot, 4236 North First.
